How I Connected.

Emma Curties | Welcome

Having come from a church where I didn't settle in very well, I came to ChristChurch London determined that the same wouldn't happen here. The Welcome Team were so incredibly friendly and so genuine that I knew almost instantly I wanted to be a part of this team. I knew firsthand what it was like not to feel settled or properly stuck in at church, and I loved that it's the Welcome Team's job to try and ensure that doesn't happen to people who come to ChristChurch. They definitely succeeded with me!

Being part of the Welcome team has meant that I get to meet many of the new people that we have through our doors each week; loving them, accepting them, serving them and giving them time. As a result, I've grown in love for people, in confidence and in leadership.

Katie Pittis | Work Matters

I have attended a number of the Work Matters meeting and discussion groups and they have always been extremely topical and relevant to me. When decisions need to be made, or when general challenges are faced at work, it is really helpful to have such a fabulous resource available. I spend a large part of my week, every week, at work, so having people within the church who can support me in this day to day has proved to be invaluable.

I work in the financial services sector, and last year, there was a large amount of uncertainty in the industry, going to Work Matters really helped to hold everything in perspective. The group leaders supported and advised me in various decisions, and I find that Work Matters continually acts as a positive impact on my attitude to my job and my ability to use it for Gods glory.

Kpop Yangye | Production Team

ChristChurch London has been a brilliant place to find friendships and community, and serving on the Production Team has really helped me get involved with the nitty gritty of church life. It's not always the most glamorous job in the world, but it's incredibly rewarding to help serve the church in such a practical way. When we're helping to set up the Sunday meeting each week, it's provided a brilliant opportunity to build friendships with other people in the church.

We arrive on a Sunday, and do everything from helping move equipment around, checking the band are all set up okay, work alongside the sound team, and make sure the correct literature is out as well. We're mixing with loads of different teams, and it makes you feel a part of a bigger team.

Michele Mei | Alpha

Three years ago, I would never have pictured myself getting involved in any church. Alpha provided an amazing context to ask some of the bigger questions of life, and my life will never be the same again having been on the course. I went to Alpha ready to argue with Christians, but the launch night itself changed my opinion because everyone was so genuinely friendly which in London you just don't get. I realised that I really wanted what these people had.

There is a massive sense of community at ChristChurch London. There are so many teams you can serve on and it is a really easy church to get involved. When I go to church on Sunday it feels like going home and seeing family.

Michelle Jones | Netball

I have been going to ChristChurch London for almost two years and have been involved in loads of aspects of church life. I had heard a lot about the church football team and the good things they had been doing in the local community. However there was nothing sporty like this for the girls at church. That's when I had a light bulb moment and decided to set up a church netball team.

We now have a team that is a mix of people both inside and outside of church and we've developed some really great friendships. By working together in a team, I am hopeful that those around us will be able to see that Christians are full of love, joy and can have fun too. My aim is to have enough interest to start two teams next season, if you are keen let me know!

Naomi Bedford | Students

I arrived in London feeling terrified that in coming to University, I wasn't going to meet any Christians, become isolated and feel pressured to conform to the drinking games that I presumed accompanied student life.

I had looked up a few churches before I moved to London and had decided from the website alone that I was going to give ChristChurch a go. It was amazing to see so many young people and students and immediately I felt so welcome. I went to all my University's fresher's events, but one of the most fun nights of my entire first year was the Student Treasure Hunt. From that point on I knew that ChristChurch London was for me; people were friendly and down to earth and it was sort of place that I could bring my friends.

Rebecca Smith | Worship Team

I first moved to London 6 years ago to start my first proper job. Moving to London was significant and it was important to me to find a church where I could give my time, money and energy. However, given the size of London I wasn't too hopeful that I would find this. That's where ChristChurch London surpassed my expectations. Right from the start was the question, 'how do you want to serve in church'.

Getting to sing and serve the church at the same time is fantastic! I have learnt lots and grown in my faith and walk with God as both a member of the Church and also a member of the team. It's been a wonderful place to learn to worship better, to make wonderful friends and have the opportunity to help lead the church in worship.

Mikhail | Football

One dark February evening my work team were playing a team called ChristChurch London. They seemed like a pleasant bunch of guys and at the end of the match (which they won!) they asked my team to join them for a drink, which we did. We were all taken aback by how friendly and jovial they were.

Phil White from the team contacted me a few months later as his team were short of players for a league match. Before the match we all huddled together for a prayer. I remember his words about Jesus loving us and how thankful he was to God for football and friendship. I asked Phil more about his beliefs and he suggested I attend an Alpha course...

Simona Ecker-Zach | Life Group

I came to London in August 2009 without knowing anyone here. A friend of mine back home in Austria knew someone in the church and introduced us via Facebook (oh yes, it's useful sometimes). On my first Sunday in London he invited me to church and after an impressive service I got to know the Welcome Team. One girl invited me to her Life Group and we went there on Tuesday evening.

It was amazing! I felt welcome and integrated from the first moment on. The discussions were great, and although I had difficulty understanding the language from time to time, with English not being my native language, it got better every time I was at church or in Life Group. I really enjoy getting to know people and being able to make friends so quickly.

Viktor & Yeye Osasu | Marriage Course

We've been involved in church for a few years now and went on the ChristChurch London Marriage Course before we got married a couple of years ago. We loved the format and found it approachable with really practical teaching, and lots of opportunity to ask questions. The guys who lead it were and are an amazing support, and it was an incredible preparation for married life together.

We're now the proud parents of the most beautiful baby girl, Grace, and are loving the support that the church has given us raising a child in the middle of the city. The creche has been a great opportunity to connect with other families and we love being a part of ChristChurch London!
